Located 66 kilometres south of Kuala Lumpur and located in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Seremban is one of the four state capitals in Malaysia that have yet to achieve the status of a city. Prior to the discovery of tin in Sungai Ujong, the inhabitants of this place were mostly Malay farmers. In the 1870s, tin was discovered in Rasah, nearby Sungai Ujong. This was when the Arabian and Chinese settlers came in to work in the mines and began trading the valuable resource. The town became a bustling business centre with the thriving tin shipping business in Linggi River. Because of this, two local leaders, Dato’ Kelana and Dato’ Shahbandar began to have conflicts with one another on the segregation of territories. This opened up an opportunity for British intervention in the mining town.

How to get there:
Seremban is half an hour’s drive away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Upon touching down Kuala Lumpur, you could hop on SKS or Maraliner express buses and you’ll be reaching Seremban in no time.
If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur City Centre, you could use the Electric Train Service from KL Sentral to reach Seremban. To move around, it is best to charter a taxi because there are less pedestrian walkways in town.
