Located at the Southwestern part of Johor is a small town named Pontian. The town consists of 2 parts, one is known as Pontian Kecil and the other known as Pontian Besar. It is approximately 62 kilometers away from Johor Bahru. The population in Pontian is estimated to be about 55,000 with majority Malay, followed by Chinese and Indian. Having a fishing village background, Pontian is well known for its huge variety of seafood dishes selling at reasonable price hence visitors always love to indulge in some wonderful seafood feast whenever they stop here.

How to get there

It takes almost 3 hours to drive from Kuala Lumpur to Pontian, 2 and a half hours from Seremban of Negeri Sembilan to Pontian and an hour from Johor Bahru to Pontian.

By Bus

There are buses going to Pontian directly from Kuala Lumpur too. Visitors may get on the bus at the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan located at Bandar Tasik Selatan in Kuala Lumpur. The bus will stops at Pontian Express Bus Terminal at JalanPantai in Pontian. There are several trips daily from Kuala Lumpur to Pontian.

By Train

Other than that, you may also board a train to come here. From KL Sentral, take the KTM and in 7 hours’ time you will reach Kulai, then from Kulai take a cab and you will end up at Pontian District within an hour.
