Kudat is a small town located at the northern tip of Borneo Island in Sabah, East Malaysia. It is a quiet town and is 190 kilometers away from Kota Kinabalu. The South China Sea is on its west and Sulu Sea is on its east. There is an estimated population of 68,000 with Rungus as the major race. Rungus is a sub-group of the Kadazan ethnic in Sabah. Among all, there is only about 10% of Chinese ethnic in Kudat, the rest are local natives such as Bajau, Bugis, Ubian, Suluk, Dusun, Murut and Malay.
The only way of getting to Kudat is by road, either on car or bus. From Kota Kinabalu, the distance is 190 kilometers and it takes about 3 hours’ drive to get to Kudat. If you are coming from Kota Belud, then the journey will be shorten by 1 hour, that means in 2 hours you will be in Kudat.
