How to travel between Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur

Regular flights operated by Malaysia Airlines are available from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Terengganu. Each trip takes about 55 minutes. Alternately, the budget airline Firefly also operates flights from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang to Kuala Terengganu and Kerteh as well as from Singapore to Kuala Terengganu.
After your flight to Terengganu from KL, you’ll still need to travel an extra 11.8 kilometres to reach the town centre. Call a grab or a taxi from the airport for easy access. It will cost you an average of RM 20.
By Self Drive
Kuala Terengganu can be accessed via East Coast Expressway from Kuala Lumpur, the journey takes about 5 hours per way covering a total of 455km in distance. Along the journey, visitors can get the chance to enjoy the scenic views of the countryside.
It provides a connection from Peninsular Malaysia’s western coast to Peninsular Malaysia’s east coast. It features a closed toll structure, similar to the North-South Expressway. The expressway connects several major cities and towns on Peninsula Malaysia’s east coast, serving as the backbone of all personal car travel in the country.
By Bus
Air-conditioned express bus services are available from Kuala Lumpur and other parts of the country to various towns in Terengganu.
Multiple companies offer a bus to Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur, most of which will cost you about RM 46 to 50. The journey takes about 6 hours, and during the day, buses depart every 30 minutes to an hour. Typically, the last night bus leaves at midnight.
You can buy a bus ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu online, at a ticketing kiosk or by visiting the ticket counter at Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) Bus Terminal.
