Mersing is a small town lying at the Northeast of the state of Johor, best known for being the main departure point for ferries going to the famous Pulau Tioman and Pulau Rawa. It is a unique place with plenty of attractions that is often overlooked as a transfer point to Johor’s beautiful islands.
Mersing is a great place to discover by foot or renting a bike. There are many beautiful beaches that rivals those in the islands, and there are parks along the coastline that boast a nice panoramic view of the ocean. The Marine Park center is a popular location to find out more about the local marine habitat before visiting the surrounding islands. It’s also a great place for tourist to shop, as they can get better deals on souvenirs such as T-shirts compared to buying in the islands. One can also try Mersing local specialty of Malay delicacies such as “Satar” and “Kropok Lekor”.
