Bintulu is a part coastal and part riverine town In Sarawak, located halfway between Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia. It is roughly 205km away from Miri, 215km from Sibu and 650km from Kuching. Bintulu has a population of about 200,000 residents, making it the 4th largest town in Sarawak after Kuching, Miri and Sibu town. People here include the Iban, Chinese, Melanau, Kayan, Kenyah and a few more local native. With the world’s largest liquefied natural gas production facility on a single site as well as the very first Shell Middle Distillate Synthesis plant, Bintulu is a major industrial centre in Malaysia.

By Air
There are daily flights available to get to Bintulu. From the airport, you may hop on a taxi to the town centre, which is about 20 minutes away.
By Bus/Car
If you are coming from other cities in Sarawak, you may either come by bus or by car. For bus services, there is a regional express bus terminal at Medan Jaya, nearby Farley Supermarket.
By Boat
Some locals do travel on express boats between Bintulu and other smaller Bintulu suburban as well as rural areas like Sebauh, Tubau and Labang.
