Located in the state of Johor, Malaysia, Batu Pahat is the 10th largest city in Malaysia and the 2nd most developed city in Johor. Batu Pahat, meaning chiselled rock took its name from the rock well located at the Batu Pahat River, near a coastal village of Kamping Minyak Beku. There are approximately 470,000 people residing in Batu Pahat. Majority of the people here are Malay, followed by Chinese and a small amount of Indians. It is located at about 70 to 100 kilometers away from the Capital city, Johor Bahru whereas the next nearest city is Muar, at about 50 kilometers away.

How to get there
By Car
Visitors can get to Batu Pahat either by car, by train and by bus. By car, you will have to take the North South Expressway via Air Hitam or Tangkak depending where you are from and keep following the signs to Batu Pahat. It takes about 3 and a half hours from Kuala Lumpur and about 2 to 2 and a half hours from Johor Bahru and Singapore.
By Train
If you are coming by train, Batu Pahat does not have local train station. The nearest train station is at the nearby town of Kluang. From there, you will need to go on bus or car for an hour to get to Batu Pahat.
By Coach
As for coaches, there are many major bus lines which go to Batu Pahat from major cities like Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Ipoh, Kuantan and others.
