The magnificent Sanctuary of Truth (credit: sanctuaryoftruth.com)
Sanctuary of Truth is a 105-meter tall wooden building made without metal nails, constructed based on ancient Buddhist, Hindu and Thai elements. The whole building is covered with hand-carved wooden sculptures, illustrating the ancient vision of earth.
There are 7 chambers in the Sanctuary of Truth. The first chamber portrays the 7 creators – Heaven, Earth, Sun, Moon, Stars, Father and Mother, and the 4 elements leading to the ideal world – establishment of religion, life bestowed upon human beings, continuation of immortal philosophy, and peace. The second chamber tells the story of Turaga defeating Mahingsa, a symbol of wisdom conquering ignorance.
Moving on to the third chamber, you will see episodes from Krishnavatar which tell the stories of war between good and evil. The fourth chamber portrays the gods of the planet, while the fifth chamber tells about the Bodhisatava, the cycle of birth and death, karma, and enlightenment. The sixth chamber illustrates the great 4 elements of the world – earth, water, wind, and fire, and the seventh chamber tells that humans are only dust in the universe, whereas goodness and truth are immortal.
While appreciating the amazing artwork of Sanctuary of Truth, you can also go on horseback riding, horse carriage riding or elephant trekking around the building. Remember to check out the traditional Thai dancing, available at 11.30 am and 3.30 pm daily.
