The southernmost tip of Phuket Island, Phromthep Cape is probably the best viewpoint in Phuket. Standing on the top of the hill on a clear day, you can spot the loads of offshore islands nearby including Coral Island, Racha Yai, Racha Noi and Phi Phi Island. With an open view of the Andaman Sea, it is romantic and peaceful to watch the sun slowly disappearing into the ocean at sunset.
Another attraction at Phromthep Cape is the 50-feet tall active lighthouse. Known as “Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse” or Golden Jubilee Lighthouse, it was built in year 1996 to mark the golden jubilee of the King’s reign. The lighthouse is also a small museum showcasing vintage lighthouse equipment and historical maritime artifacts. From the balcony of the lighthouse, view of the surrounding Andaman Sea and small islands is equally stunning.
Next to the lighthouse stands the statue of Prince Jumborn, the Father of the Royal Thai Navy. Visitors can also visit the Brahma Shrine nearby, with hundreds of wooden elephants and colorful decoration.
There is an open air restaurant at Phromthep Cape serving seafood and Thai dishes at reasonable prices. With Nai Harn Beach and Andaman Sea as background, this is a great dinner place after sunset.

Phromthep Cape is located between Nai Harn Beach and Rawai Beach. From Nai Harn Beach, go all the way up the hill and you will reach Phromthep Cape viewpoint. There is a car park right below the viewpoint.
