Bang Tao Beach is a relaxing holiday spot in Phuket, with 6km-long beach and well-known luxurious resort complex Laguna Phuket.
Tranquil and rather deserted, the beach is frequented mostly by guests of the resorts although it is not a private beach. There are lines of sunbeds with umbrellas along the beach for resort guests, just nice for an icy-cold drink while reading a book in a lazy afternoon. For other visitors, you can always throw a towel on the beach and lay down on the soft, clean sand.
During the high season between November and April, the beach is busier with water sports such as banana boat, hobie cats, jetskiing, paragliding, waterskiing, surfing, windsurfing and so on. If you are in to sea kayaking, you can visit the northern end of Bang Tao Beach, known as Layan Beach. Here you can rent a kayak and explore Koh Kala, a small island few meters off the beach, and a lagoon nearby.
With something for everyone, Bang Tao Beach is a great place for family outing. Phuket International Horse Club located on the beach itself offers various riding packages on horses and elephants. Kids aged between 8 and 18 can visit “Quest Laguna Phuket” for exciting indoor and outdoor activities including abseiling, rock climbing and leisure sports. Golf courses around the beach include Laguna Phuket Golf Club Course and Phuket Adventure Mini Golf; while shopping spots include Canal Village, Mandalay Casa, and Mix & Match.

Bang Tao Beach is located approximately 15 km from Patong, 25 km from Phuket Town, and 23 km from Phuket International Airport. Transfer to / from Patong, Phuket Town / airport costs around THB600 one way.
