Pattaya Beach is the bay area near Pattaya city center, from Pattaya Nuea South to the Walking Street. It is a famous beach resorts area with shopping streets, eateries, resorts, and night attractions.
Pattaya Beach offers a quick fix for tourists and city dwellers to unwind after a long day. You can lie down on the beach to enjoy the breeze, sunbathe, swim, watch sunset and treat yourselves to mouth-watering dinner here. However, if you are really into beaches, offshore islands near Pattaya Beach would be a better choice.
Koh Larn or Coral Island is approximately 7.5 km off the shore, reachable by ferry and speedboat. Designated as a coral protection area, the island has abundant marine life along with clear sea water and white sandy beaches. Adventure seekers would definitely love this island, with the wide variety of activities here – banana boat, deep-sea fishing, parasailing, jet skiing, bicycle riding, hiking, and so on. You can also go diving, scuba diving, snorkeling, or tour in semi-submersible submarine to see thousands of colourful coral reefs and marine life under water.
About 13 km off the shore, you will come across Koh Phai group of islands, also known as Bamboo Island. Beaches here are clean, quiet and un-commercialised as there are no restaurant and no facility around. The area is under the administration of the Royal Navy, and no overnight stay is allowed. Nonetheless, this is a great place for snorkeling, diving, swimming and island hopping.
